The vent is extremely well made and would probably last for years but makes a loud rhythmic clacking as the louvres flap open and shut and strike each other and the vent frame when the dryer is in use. Even the neighbors complained about the noise when we ran the dryer at night. My young son’s room is adjacent to vent and he will turn the dryer off before going into his room to play or read. Like many others, I was initially getting the constant clanking from pulsing air. Sounded like a metallic yard sprinkler. Of your vent is doing that odds are you have a leak or bad connection in the line. Once I sealed all the connections better with metallic tape, no more clanking and smooth operation.Seems nicely built and should hold up better than the plastic one it replaced. Fit much better than the previous one.

Well built and about as attractive as an exhaust outlet can be, but doesn’t work well with a small bathroom exhaust fan. I connected this to a 110cfm exhaust fan and the vanes would flutter causing an annoying pulsation. Might work better with a higher powered blower, but there’s nothing in the product description to tell you that. I had to remove this and replace it.

I selected this stainless steel unit for several reasons. The finish should hold up for many years to come, the steel should be durable, and prevent birds from chipping away at it like my old one. I also like the fact that this came with a gasket. My surprise came when I turned on the dryer. The fins began to oscillate, and when they did, they started clanging. The unit is very nice looking and built robustly.-1 star for not having an extension pipe on the back side and having an undersized pilot. I had an extra extension pipe that I was able to put on it, but it was very loose because of the small pilot. I had to buy an extra pipe clamp to hold it on. Searched many options before deciding on this one. At the stores they were always heavy bulky and expensive. This looks a lot better and much more value for the money. They do make a sound when dryer is in use. But our dryer hose goes through laundry room and bedroom with extra long hose, so like hearing that everything is working right when the dryer is operating.

This vent is high quality. I didn't give it a 5 because it does make a bit of noise outside when the flaps go up and down. May not be of high quality compared to competitors.

I had wanted to use this for a kitchen range hood. But I can see gaps (approx 1/8") between the frame and the shutters. We live by a lake in NY with lots of wind, and I can tell this will fail miserably during the winter months. Back to revain it goes :(

Using this to vent my beer brew house through the nearby wall. It looks great and works well. Louvres stay closed to block the outside air well. Please note you will need a fairly strong fan to keep the louvres open during exhaust. I have a 700 cfm fan and that certainly keeps them open. If you have a weak fan, as others have mentioned, the flaps will open and close rapidly. Very happy with it.

So far so good! I installed it as a replacement to a similar sized plastic vent that disintegrated in three years. Hopefully stainless will hold up better. Easy to install. Includes a gasket which is great.

regarding the 6 inch vent: like another reviewer stated, it's not 6 inches at all. I thought I could modify it for a bathroom exhaust fan but it's not even close. It goes from 5 1/4 on the interior side to 5 3/4 inches ID closest to the flaps but it's still not workable for a 6 inch exhaust vent.Suggestions for the manufacturer:1) post an image with the ACTUAL dimensions.Or.2) call it a 5 1/4 inch vent.Or. 3) make an actual 6 inch vent.4) I would pay double for a well built vent cap that…

I had my local window store replace the glass in a basement window with a double replacement material and they cut this for the vent and secured it for me. I like the ease of connecting my dryer venting for secure attachment and it is not plastic or lightweight material but heavy duty. In use the vents do sing a bit but I do not mind and for me an excellent purchase at a reasonable cost. I would highly recommend

I bought one of these to replace a super cheap plastic one that had installed a few years back. This one is very nice. It fit inside of the 4 inch pipe, had a nice seal around the outside and the holes lined up with the previous 5.5 inch distance holes. I don't think I will need to replace this again anytime soon.

I am using this for an exhaust hood in the kitchen. I am not seeing any flapping or noises like others have mentioned. I am guessing that is some sort of pulsing from the dryers they are using it with. This vent is extremely well made and its easily the nicest vent cover Ive ever seen.
