DON'T BUY, spend a little more for something better.

not even worth returning for $7.99 but let me tell you it's a piece of crap. Not only is it not recognized by the computer, but the SD card (which was correctly inserted) cannot be terminated. The slot had a power grip and I tried tweezers and still nothing. Eventually the hammer did it, but I think the device is now more inoperable than it used to be. At least I think I salvaged an SD card that costs way more than this item.

Buy DigiScan USB CAC Smart Reader Desktop (DOD Compliant)

This company stands behind their product. I am considering Saicoo DOD Military Common Access certification. The first cac reader I ordered was defective. The company sent another CAC reader (FREE). I am using Windows 10 Pro. I plugged the new CAC into an available USB port and it worked straight away. The first CAC I ordered must be defective. It's nice to see a company that cares about their customers and products. Be careful when opening the CAC reader as the CAC driver comes with a minidisk…

Works great on Macbook

is very beautiful. I immediately used this to review footage from the micro SD card used in my DVR. worked fine with no issues on my late 2008 unibody MacBook running an OS released a few iterations ago (sorry, can't remember which one, maybe Yosemite). The LED display on the card reader is good. I didn't try to force the micro SD in, I just pushed gently, I want to make sure it's enough, but it was. It looks like you have a choice: use slots on the side or slots of the same size on the end of…

  • There are other interesting options.

The tool worked well for about 6 months and then became intermittent. Now the device does not light up at all. My computer recognizes the device, but the device does not read the card. We have to find a replacement. ************** Edit 10/30/18: I'm leaving an old post in case anyone has the same issue. Apparently Windows 10 selected an option in Device Manager to disable the device to save power. I unchecked the box and now the reader works fine. In Device Manager, right-click the device &gt…

Finally a wired reader that suits me.

Wired card readers never worked for me for some reason. Only those that connect directly without a cable. But every time I took out the non-wireless reader, it seemed like it might break off in the PC socket. I need a wired one for work where I can leave it plugged in all the time. The cable allows the reader to be positioned so that I can remove the SD card; the wireless reader is too small for that. Viola! This card reader works! And I notice that as soon as I put the card in the reader, he…

I bought this to take advantage of the PKI infrastructure for secure access and digital signature. The app I used for the necessary middleware to enable browser authentication. The driver provided did not allow the browser interface to read information from the inserted card. The instructions state that when the card is read, the LED will change color to blue. Mine doesn't. I requested a replacement from Revain because I couldn't read the card and the LED wouldn't read the card (every card I've

Great CAC reader but terrible for morale

This card reader does what it's supposed to do and while I'd happily deduct stars because I have to work with it at home I can't because it does a lot good and hasn't let me down yet. The design is solid and when you install your certificates, it works flawlessly with government and military programs and websites. If you are a US Department of Defense civilian contractor or a member of the military who needs to use a CAC card reader, I highly recommend this model and I highly recommend…

CAC Reader: Card is very tight and not hanging loose -- A++

Every few months I use a new CAC card reader at work. The cables are damaged, the cards are not readable. I think it's safe to say that I have pretty high requirements for card readers. :X This is the best card reader I've ever used. I have to update this review after using it for a little longer, but for now I like how cozy the map is. Once inside, it definitely won't move unless you remove it on purpose. Fiction! Such an improvement in quality of life over other readers I've used. The price…

Works great with Macbook Pro

I had no problem setting up a card reader with my Macbook Pro. I had to download the driver because my laptop doesn't have a CD slot, but the instructions that came with the card reader point to the Saicoo website where you can download the driver for free. Please note that the computer must be restarted in order to install the driver. I had a bit of trouble getting CAC-enabled websites to ask me for certificates, but I followed the instructions on militarycac.com for Mac. You need to check the
