They are very loud, even on the lowest settings. They also have far too many features and options for what we wanted. We use walkie-talkies to track the neighborhood kids. Sound and range are very good, but overall not what we were looking for.

Bought these with Amazon rechargeable batteries for my kids to play with the neighbours. Other walkie talkies didn't get far enough to work - tried 3 other brands and all lost their range due to the forest/trees separating our homes. It had crystal clear reception. Just enough to be served by a 6 year old and we don't really hear the other chatter. The kids love it, me too! Works perfectly

These radios work as advertised but the design is very poor. The belt clip blocks the battery compartment and makes it very difficult to insert and remove the batteries. Also, the battery terminals in the units are very cheap and in one radio the terminal broke when we first put the batteries in! I would not recommend this product. I would suggest rechargeable type and better quality.

Overall these are great little radios with lots of features. They transmit far, very far when there are no obstacles in large parks or tents in the woods. They transmit a decent range in the neighborhood far enough to reach kids when they are at their friend's house a few blocks away and there are many houses in between it was very difficult for the mic to pick up any sound transmit opening the device saw we got a frayed wire which I can only assume is the culprit :( Failed to try to fix it but

Don't let the three star sound quality put you off. I'm a sane snob and this really should be better than four or five stars! I use a $1700 radio every day that I would only give four stars.
