Summary: After installation DD-WRT seems to work fine with this router. It loses a star because it doesn't have LED indicators for each Ethernet port. This is actually an important feature for me, but I can do without it. Timely Details: I had to make a quick but sensible decision on which router to use as my previous router showed signs of imminent demise. The 824DRU seemed to fit the bill. Once DD-WRT was actually installed, everything went smoothly, but the installation itself was a bitโ€ฆ

TRENDnet Router GREAT

I purchased a TRENDnet TEW-824DRU wireless router last July to extend my wireless coverage throughout my house. The cable modem/router provided by my ISP is fine for wireless devices next to the router, but terrible further away. TEW-824DRU is exactly what the doctor ordered. I put it in the middle of my living room, on top of my entertainment system. I have an ethernet connection to my home network, so after setting it up I connected my router to the network and, voila! - I have EXCELLENTโ€ฆ

Need DD-WRT to really shine!

Before installing DD-WRT, I couldn't recommend this router to anyone. I have two major problems with this device. 1) I can't reliably get AirPrint to work. AirPrint uses IP multicast to advertise the service and the multicast feature does not work on this router. I spent hours getting it to work. My AirPrint printers are not visible to my iPhone and I have to manually add them by IP address on my Macs. It broke the deal for me. My old Buffalo router with DDWRT didn't have this problem. 2) Iโ€ฆ

Convenient for the tech inexperienced

As I'm not a tech savvy person I was very happy with the ease of setup. I was suspicious at first because it says you can tell when it's connected to the internet by the blinking (round) green light. Mine doesn't blink all the time. When I added a new laptop to the system, my internet slowed down and I found that I couldn't load certain pages. So after making sure everything was connected as instructed, I went to my model's website and explored a few options. Now, remember, whenever Iโ€ฆ

Functional but with many bugs/problems.

I was looking for a router with Qualcomm Streamboost. Tried this. Bought, returned to Revane and exchanged for a new one. Both routers had problems with DHCP (devices on my network are not automatically assigned IP addresses). The admin page to service the router died multiple times and required a reboot. After manually assigning the IP addresses and configuring the Streamboost settings, everything is fine. The firmware is not updated (on the old or new router). Trendnet support was not veryโ€ฆ

Trendnet TEW-824DRU

Overall not bad in terms of connectivity and speed. I have to restart it a little more than I would like. After a few months of use, I had problems connecting to the WiFi. After investigating, I found that the 2.4GHz WiFi channel was set to auto. You wouldn't think this would be too much of a problem, but the channel tends to automatically select channels 1, 6, or 11. The problem occurs when about 30 other Wi-Fi networks in my area are automatically tuned to Happiness the same channels 1. 6 and
