Worked well for about five feet. After about 30 feet of planing a painted, pressure-painted deck, the blades were completely worn to the point where the roller holding the blades was rubbing the deck. Switched to a second set of knives with the same result. The plane got so hot I burned my fingers trying to change the blades. Perhaps this contributed to the planer's death the next day.

After ordering 3 or 4 of these blades I lost count by buying the HSS/Non Carbide blades and bought the HSS blades after 2 separate calls to Revain support After sending Revain back, I finally got the carbide blades. The carbide blades I received seem to be of good quality although I haven't used them yet. So order them if you can see the difference. Carbide is heavier, glass-like, and much tougher than high-speed steel.

These blades are beautiful. I had to use a cheap (most) hand planer to strip the paint off the old flooring. As long as I don't hit a nail that severely damages or breaks the blade, I've found I can completely remove 4+ 16 foot 2X6 boards for a set of 2 blades. There were 4 passes on each side of the board and twice on both sides. I think I even have 2 sets left. I will buy this again. They were way better than the blades I got in a place that rhymes with "Arbor Fate" which didn't track…

So far the first set has planed everything from softwood to hardwood with very good finishes. My only complaint (and this may be minor) is that they were .0105" wider compared to the OEM blades and I had to adjust them during installation to get them to run smoothly and properly. Also, not being proud of the base when it's set to 0 inches (i.e. you can put it on the board on the bench without risking bumping into the board). Updated Review: After talking to Annie at Customer Service it appears I may have accidentally received HSS blades. Annie has gone to great lengths to solve this problem. Well the new blades arrived today, I am pleased to report that they are now CARBIDE as ordered! Mistakes happen and when a company admits and then does everything they can to fix a problem, that's worth more than 5 stars to me!
