No more teal slime!

Having owned aquariums almost exclusively for the past 25 years, a green substance recently formed at the bottom of my 75 gallon tank. I've never seen anything like this, I did a partial water change, vacuumed the stones and cleaned the filter, came back a few days later. **Please note this started after using well water**. I did a little research and found that they are blue-green bacteria. The first photo shows what the floor looked like. I bought this and did the first treatment, after 48…

Kills Cynobacteria in 48 hours. Look no further.

Absolutely the only solution if you have a blue-green slime, also called cynobacteria, in your aquarium. If you have that absolute slime loathing. no power failure, algae eaters, aquarium cleaning, water changes do not help. You MUST use some kind of chemical to get rid of it and that's the best you can do. In fact, algae eaters don't even eat slime. I had BG slime in my tank (tiny 10g tank with lots of plants and 2 pea puffers) for almost 6 months. I've tried all the options I got from my…

  • Best in its niche

  • Bruised

So my 72 gallon front tank was suffering from cyanobacteria contamination. It seemed that my aquarium was covered with a thick layer of slime during the night. It covered my live plants, filter necks, rock and substrate. I've been trying to remove it manually and with a water change for several days but to no avail. Turning off the lights with the blinds closed didn't help either. I was willing to completely drain the tank and hand wash everything until my friend recommended it. When I bought…

I have been dealing with cyanobacteria in my freshwater tank for a few months. Wanting to eliminate the infestation without the use of chemicals or antibiotics as possible, I performed weekly water changes/gravel vacuums/manual cyanobacteria removal (a chore that could take up to hours in my 75 gallon aquarium). After spending a few months with this and being confident that my water levels were not the culprit, I decided to treat it more like an infection than an algae outbreak and purchased…

MAKES THEM BELIEVE IN GOD

As far as I know, this is magic. I don't understand how one spoonful of what looks like strawberry sauce completely killed the cyanobacteria in my tank. This thing works so well, it's AWESOME. I've searched the internet for suggestions on how to deal with this blue-green nightmare. I've changed the light, increased and decreased nitrates, reduced exposure time, checked phosphates, reduced feeding and I have live plants. Literally nothing could stop this thing. I knew that erythromycin was the…

This product is incredibly amazing

Why isn't this all over the shelves in pet shops? Why isn't this the first thing people mention on fish forums to combat BGA (blue-green algae, aka cyanobacteria)? I went nuts trying to fight this thing in my planted 29 gallon tank. I accidentally let my nitrates get too low and had a MASSIVE eruption. I followed all the advice I could find to get rid of this junk - light adjustment, water circulation, fertilizer dosage, etc. per day. I finally found this stuff and decided damn why not, it…

The five star reviewers are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

Join the choir. This stuff works really really well. I had a severe case of blue-green slime algae. Like many of us, I suppose I thought it was algae. For those who are unsure if they have this algae (it's not actually algae), here's how to tell if you have blue-green slime algae (cyanobacteria) or another type of algae: 1. It grows very quickly after after you have cleaned the aquarium.2. It forms a slimy layer over tree stumps or plants that is fairly easy to remove (unlike hair algae).3…

Successful treatment after a little patience and cleaning

I have a 10 gallon tank that I suspect was inoculated with these "green slime" bacteria when new fish were added about six months ago. For several days the water seemed unusually cloudy, and then over the next month everything was constantly covered in a light green, algae-like substance. Buck also began giving off an earthy smell of pond water. I regularly pulled the substance from the bottom of the aquarium and from the plants to prevent them from completely drowning, but I clearly had to be…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Temporary solution, but good to have on hand.

I use this thing a lot. I've bought these three packs multiple times and each time they've worked for about a week or so and then the BGA came back. I blamed many things: lighting, water levels, CO2, etc. But it wasn't until I tested everything that I realized what was going on. Adding a small amount of this substance to the water you use for water changes will cause your GH (water hardness) to rise to a SKY ROCKET! If you add a small scoop (provided) to a glass of reverse osmosis water…

  • Bad experience
