The most important thing to know about this product is that it is completely different from oil-based wipes, so you cannot try to apply it using the same methods. I bought a transparent satin doily on polyethylene. I fixed an old table. I think it's maple, but I'm not 100% sure. That was my first experience with poly. The previous owners had placed what appeared to be a hot pot on the table and left a very deep burn mark. First I sanded the entire table and sanded away the burn marks. Mahogany Guitar (and the table looks great). I rubbed the first layer with old white socks. Waited 3 hours and sanded with 220 sandpaper, that removed most of it. Apply 2nd layer. Waited 3 hours, sanded with 220 grit paper and applied a third coat. After a while I added a final, heavier layer just for fun. This mahogany was very "greedy" and porous so it absorbed the shine.
