The pole itself is exactly as pictured and is strong once installed. Installation, however, is a different story. I'm an experienced handyman, do-it-yourself installer. The fasteners (especially the screws) that come with this mount are VERY easy to remove and I recommend using other screws (check your local hardware store for the same size screws). I accidentally ripped one off by inserting a screw into a pre-drilled hole with a drill bit, so I switched to a ratchet screwdriver and ripped off the second screw. I then switched to a regular screwdriver and, you guessed it, ripped off the third screw. To be fair, the second and third weren't fully stripped BUT that's because I stopped halfway to avoid the hassle I had with removing the first fully stripped screw. After more than 30 minutes of fiddling with the hardware turned on, I simply used some better quality screws left over from another project and was done in about 3 minutes.
