works if your feet are wet or if you rub the scale lightly with a damp paper towel etc. IF your feet are dry, the scale will not show BMI etc. just your weight (which was accurate for me). The app was easy to install if I remember correctly, I just scanned the barcode thing and had to fix the app. Just to be safe, I installed it on my iPad Pro instead of iPhone and it works fine on iPad. You need to open the app for it to calculate everything and you need to click on the icon at the bottom of the app to register it. About the reliability of the information is difficult to say. some seem but i doubt some like muscle mass which says i'm at 40% so at a high level... i'm weak, older and don't do muscle building exercises so i'm not sure that he's precise, especially when he's not at a high level, he really has muscles because he's been working on his legs and lifting weights all day. The scale looks good, glass top and easy to clean. Mine wobbles and works well on hardwood floors, not so well on all types of carpet, even thin ones. I forgot to look at the price but in the end I would definitely buy this scale BUT the manufacturer should note in the prospectus that the feet or the scale are slightly moistened to allow the scale to read your specs.
