As many have said, it works very little. I measured my daughter. I bought 10-12 year olds for my 8 year old daughter. She is tall for her age and of medium height (not skinny or stocky). It looked very small right out of the bag. Tag just said Big. She couldn't breathe when she put it on. I toyed with ordering a size larger than 14-16 but was afraid it would be slightly larger than L and not fit. Someone said she ordered panties for her daughter and it worked. I was arguing between Xtra Small Women's and Small. I went with Small and am so glad I did. Size XS would be too small for my daughter. Just order ahead and know it runs small. BTW, the one I received was swimsuit-like fabric (thick but still sportswear material, a bit shiny) and not the cotton/spandex I was expecting. The women's small of the same product has a cotton-spandex feel, just what I expected. Both materials did not stretch very much. They seem to have done well. It just doesn't work very well.
