Just great! best pest control

UPDATE JUST ONE HOUR LATER: At least 100 toadstools died in one hour! And found it popping out twice, so longer than I thought - now I have those suction cups on the ceiling! My husband says I like my new toy too much ;) Die fuckers! Thanks to flash floods followed by a heatwave, mosquito populations have skyrocketed this year. We rent an old farmhouse and landlords have been saying for years that they will fix our ill-fitting screens, but that never seems to happen. We have seasons of wasps, ladybugs and stink bugs all leading to localized infestations at different times of the year and finally I have a different weapon than my husband with quick reflexes and a handful of paper towels! We've tried every mosquito repellent that has filled our house this week. I'm smeared with OFF spray, lavender oil lotion, and a mosquito repellent sport bracelet, but I still bet about 1-2 times an hour. Until now. We bought a light to catch mosquitoes. Total BS. But it draws her in, so we put it in the corner of the dining room. We had at least 50 small bugs on the wall and ceiling last night. My zapper arrived today. I turned on the lamp and got to work. Okay, defusing is serious defusing. I mean the sparks and the sound that makes me jump. But damn, it's great to feel like the owner of your own home again. I walk around the house every few hours, and I probably have about a dozen left that are out of reach. No bite in two hours. I sleep with it on my bedside table! Pros: Instant gratification. You don't have to wait and see if your repellent really works. Easy to use. Make sure you press the red switch to the green button to turn it on. At first I thought it was broken until I actually read the instructions. - good coverage. It has quite a long handle (I'm 5'5 and can barely reach the top of the walls). The rotating reticle is nice as you can catch it and then shoot with confidence, but I find it a bit fiddly and miss more with this technique. Contradictory and a little disturbing. I'm one of those people who would catch and release a mouse, and the idea of killing bugs isn't my ideal. But with the West Nile Virus in my area, and I can't find a real redeeming element for mosquitoes, I get too much joy from slaughtering - it's big. Great for getting high but hard to catch bugs that can be found in corners (they seem to like to hide on the edge of door frames where I can't reach them)

Pros
  • Electric fly swatter kills mosquitoes and other flying insects on contact
Cons
  • Something else
