I just received this. I removed the blade (it was inserted upside down I think for safety reasons) and removed the mechanism. He didn't move in smoothly. Then I tried to push it so I could insert the blade. It took a few attempts, but it worked in the end. I inserted the blade with great difficulty. Retreat now works quite well.
