Genuine Toyota 15620 36020 Filter Assembly Review

With the help of Sebastian at Toyota in Miami I ordered this OEM oil filter cap. BUT to my surprise! When I received it I received an upgraded OEM aluminum cover! What an offer for under $20! Thanks Sebastian, you are the man!

Terrible Toyota Filter. I thought this plastic would be way better than what was available but it's the same. When I installed it with a key it broke. I didn't even realize it until I started using oil. I'm not sure if we can find one made of metal, that would be much better.

I think it's an OEM and it worked great with no leaks. Make sure you also order the appropriate BOTTOM PLUG, then before installation install the gaskets provided with the paper filter, one under the plug and the other over the o-ring on the bottom of the threads. DO NOT TIGHTEN STRONG.

See the Toyota box in the picture? Mine didn't come in one! It came in a plastic bag with a non-Toyota tag on it. Do you see this part number? Nothing like what is stamped on the case. It does not bear the name of Toyota or any other manufacturer. By the way, it does NOT come with a bottom drain plug. I never take mine out, but now I need to find THIS piece.

This is a replacement for my oil filter that some mechanic cracked. The only problem is that the kit does not include the #15643-31050 drain plug. I couldn't just use the one that came with my old canister because the guy removed it with the wrong tool. So if you buy this make sure you have the cap from your old can or just order one separately. This is part number 15643-31050.
