Happy masked horse

I have a very old gelding who HATES flies around his nose. He will stand over his tub of water and constantly nod his head and dunk it in the water. He doesn't like those long fly noses so I tried a Shire fringed nose mask (don't get me wrong guys) and he's a much happier horse.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Lots of things

Exceptional Fly Mask

This is a very durable and comfortable fly mask. It took my gelding about 15 minutes to get used to the fringes. He's not trying to scrape that mask off, and the fringes are doing their job. Nice! I love fine stitches. My only complaint is that I thought the mask was all black. what i got was black with orange. but i really like it! I just ordered one for my mare!

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Legacy Model

Love this horse fly mask

This fly mask is the best ever. I have tried many fly masks on my horse over the past 23 years and this is by far the best. Well made, velcro is elastic but strong. I like the fringes covering the muzzle. He deters flies from biting their nostrils, but is not spoiled by food. Would definitely buy again if needed and have recommended this mask to several others.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Love the Shires Insect Mask

I love the Shires Insect Mask! We had 2 others, both cob sizes that fit our horses well. I had to buy the 'Horse or Large' size as this brand is now in short supply. It's on the biggest horse and you'll be fine. The ears are quite big but what I really like are the fringes on the nose! With a regular fly mask they still get flies in their noses, the fringes on them repel flies and they don't get dirty or snotty. The masks are very well made, the Velcro is wonderful, I've never had to look for…

Pros
  • Top marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Appearance

Looks great! - Masks

Looks good, appears to be well constructed and the mesh is the right body density (too soft and abrasive, too stiff and creates weird creases). I especially like the fringes because the flies swarm in the parts of his face his other fly mask can't reach. I'll have to see if the fringes work as well as I hope. He had to put it on less than a day before "someone" managed to take it off. (It sits in a 10 acre field with 10 horses including 2 foals.) Haven't been able to walk across the field to…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Unreliable

Great fit, durable material and great looks!

I have been using Cashel masks for many years and finally found one I like better! They come in boxes that protect their shape, unlike coughs which are filled with little squares so you'll usually have creases in one eye. The material of this mask is thinner but holds its shape well. I've been using it for a week with no problems. The size of the horse is perfect and the fringes protect the nose from flies. Cashels always wear out before our eyes, and the plastic material breaks where flies can

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are shortcomings

I love this fly mask!

I love this fly mask. It fits my 16.2 cm mare perfectly. The padding around the back of the head is fluffy soft and therefore very comfortable for them. The two Velcro straps are a little wider than most and quite long, giving you plenty of room to adjust if you want them to be snug or prefer to leave them a bit looser around your horse's neck and cheeks. The strands at the bottom are great for repelling flies while still allowing them to breathe and eat freely. My trainer bought one for his…

Great product with many functions!

I love my new Shires Fine Mesh Nose Fringe. Many fly masks are too thick for a good view of the horse. This also results in restricted airflow around the eyes. Although the fringes are not intended to protect from the sun, they do provide good sun protection over the nose. I have had mosquito full face masks for my beautiful horse but the mesh gets covered in dirt and nasal discharge and becomes impervious to airflow and actually impedes airflow for easy breathing. This mask is a guard…

Quality construction and design

Very impressed with the packaging and product quality. The fringes are definitely longer than necessary but are easy to trim with scissors and melt with a flame to keep the ends from fraying. Photo before I trimmed the fringes. We ordered two and were able to release them for each horse. Our horses keep them and seem happy that we put them on each morning (we take them off at night). One of our Quarter Horses got a tear stain from flies (the flies are worse than usual this year) but after…
