It could use a little improvement but it's damn good the way it is and when installed properly it works great and doesn't fall off during use. It doesn't have the spring clip that the standard has, so it doesn't hold up well when opened. The claws wrap around the gopro's metal shaft and when you lower it to the closed position the grips orient themselves so they don't fall out (the photo should illustrate what I mean). The latch piece makes a positive click as it slides between open and closed, and I'm sure it won't unlatch during use. I think the price is quite reasonable considering the machining required to make it and the volume of production.
