Review on πŸ“· OLYMPUS OM-D E-M5 Mark II (Silver) (Body Only): Unleashing the Ultimate Photographic Power by Chai Charoen ᠌

I am satisfied, the product fully corresponds to the description.

I took the camera in tandem with the FF for several tasks: - write video - copes perfectly well - try different exotic lenses for me, such as fisheye, macro, telephoto lenses - excellent - to have a small camera that you are not too lazy to carry with you - similarly. I compared in parallel images with FF on "fifty dollars" - on basic ISO when converting RAV, the difference comes down to the depth of field, and if the FF is clamped, then only to the aspect ratio. Yes, the basic color reproduction is different, but everything is quickly reduced to one result in a couple of slider movements. So there is no mythical color rendition of either Kenon or Olympus, unless of course you shoot only in jeeps. Moreover, I did not find magic FF on basic ISOs. Wouldn't recommend for action or portraits. I wrote about autofocus above, the working ISO does not allow you to work with short shutter speeds in case of lack of light. Good portrait lenses for micro are much more expensive than those giving a similar result for FF, compare the price of Olympus 75 / 1,8 and Kenon 135/2, while the recalculation of the lens will give 150mm / 3.5, which is not at all 135 / 2.0 on FF. I see this camera either as a photographer's notebook, or as a convenient and advanced traveler's camera. As the second to FF - excellent, both cameras complement each other, blocking the weaknesses. As the only one, it’s better to look at Fuji, naturally of the same 2022 release or newer

Pros
  • Small, stylish under retro. A bunch of controls with good customization for themselves Very cool stub, I tried it at 14mm shutter speed 3s - it works, everything is sharp (you need to turn on the electronic shutter and 2s shutter delay, so as not to blur when pressed) The same stub works very cool in tandem with an electronic stub when shooting video, it turns out quite smoothly, better than when the stub works in optics Many video settings for compression and frame rate, there is fhd without compression, there is a cinema 4k mode with amazing detail There are various creative long exposure modes that allow you to shoot lightning without an additional light trap, write star tracks in one frame, or smear car headlights in general high light, for example. A bunch of shutter mode settings - normal, quiet, electronic. Electronic - full-fledged, and not only in story modes. Adjusts the frequency of fast and slow bursts for each type of shutter operation. You can choose which modes will be displayed when you scroll through them, removing all unnecessary Fast and accurate single-frame spot autofocus. The point is convenient to drive on the touch screen. At the same time, Olympus protected the user from accidentally selecting a point with his nose - the screen does not respond to objects of such an area All season Recharges with normal phone charger Cool photography experience in 4:3 format :)
Cons
  • The main disadvantage is the ISO threshold, when you can get a normal result, only 800, that is, a maximum of +2 margin steps to the base value. At 800 it makes noise like FF at 6400, what the reviews say about supposedly workers on the mic 3200 is a paid lie The autofocus intelligence does not work well. It does not detect people, only when the face occupies a significant part of the frame. With some lenses, for example, 25 / 1.8 does not find the eye (maybe the lens firmware needs to be ated). Tracking autofocus easily loses the subject. The automatic focus area selection lives its own life and selects points according to incomprehensible criteria: when you have a person in the frame, but the face is not defined, it can easily focus on the background, ignoring the contrasting person nearby The height of the handle is not enough, the little finger hangs, the native extension cord costs 13,500 :( It's a pity that for the sake of economy and in order not to compete with older models, they made it in a plastic case, mark 2 was metal
