It's only been a week but an 11 year old loves them. Comfortable, beautiful design, durable, warm, easy closure for quick on and off, but stays in place when running. Being a polyvinyl material, the material can scratch and is thinner in the decorative camouflage areas, but the solid color reinforced base areas are a more durable man-made material. I like that the tongue is attached to the sides of the laces almost to the top so water/snow doesn't get in there. There is enough tread at the bottom so it's not slippery, but not deep either for kids to walk on snow/mud.
