Review on ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Altura Photo Professional Camera Rain Cover: Rain Gear for Canon Nikon Sony DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras by Dave Brummet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product

I live and photograph landscapes in Colorado and the Northern Rocky Mountains where the climate can be extreme: snow and cold and rain in summer. . . This camera cover is large enough to fully cover my D810 and my lens up to 70-200mm, as well as the main smaller diameter lenses I use like the 20mm and 85mm, although there is a lot of extra bulkiness when using shorter lenses . The front latches tighten around the lens hood to protect the lens mount and camera body while leaving room for unrestricted focus and zoom control of the lens. The clear plastic back provides a good view of the camera controls and LCD in live view, but I've found that wrinkles now appear unless you protect the clear plastic by making sure it doesn't bend when you put it on or bends . it away, keep it flat. It's relatively easy to get the camera inside BEFORE you mount it on a tripod (a good ArcaSwiss ball head and L-Bracket make tripod mounting easier), allowing you to do all the adjustments before you strap the camera on and close it Completely. .The hand holes are a bit tight and I have found that I don't use them most of the time except when it's snowing or raining heavily. The clear plastic back is much easier to lift, allowing better access to the camera and controls, as well as viewing the LCD screen. Either way, precise focusing requires you to lift the back cover, so why jump around with hand holes and lift the cover. . .This is a great addition to your camera bag when you are in bad or bad conditions OR when you want to be outside in all weather conditions. I recommend having one "just in case". .

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Good but not great
