Bought two of these just over a year ago. I kept them in a dry plastic container in my office until I needed them. I was very disappointed to see the transparent panel transition from transparent to milky white. Although still usable, they are now difficult to see, making camera setup quite difficult. **UPDATE** Seller replaced for free. Excellent customer service! They stand behind their products.

Works well with 1D MK IV

I've added photos to show a good fit even when using a 300mm telephoto lens with a Wimberly head. This raincoat is amazing! You see different views even with your back up as I like to get closer to the camera to look through the viewfinder. With this raincoat, all options are open to you. I didn't use my arms through the side access sleeves as that would be too clinical unless it was raining cats and dogs. At some point you have to make a decision, and this raincoat is very good at keeping the…

Not so bad: camera and photo

Tried using this with multiple lens settings; Here's a quick rundown of what I found (this is very general, but just my specific experience). It's enough to reach the end of my 100-400mm lens when it's fully collapsed (at 100mm) and you're gluing your lens neck out of reach of the cap. a fixed focal length lens like 50mm is too short; too much folded cover to control the lens and keep it moving. Most medium telephoto and zoom lenses should work just fine, like my 24-105. the transparent backing

Ease of use does the trick

I finally tested this thing on my 6D and it worked fine. I give it 5 stars for the following reasons: Price - most professional cases/boxes can cost 50-500! It does its job well enough. Ease of use: It's essentially a case that you attach to your camera that provides a field of view and an open end for your lens. cover and read. Use a lens hood if you have one for added protection and filtering. The field of view is not entirely clear as it is a thick plastic material. Don't expect sharp focus…

    Not that bad! UPDATE

Product does the job at a reasonable price. Just a note, and since there aren't any viable alternatives, it's hard to blame the manufacturer: the "window" you look through at the camera controls is made of vinyl, commonly referred to by boaters as iron glass (since the material is widely available). in windows in boat canvas products). It is prone to drying out, clouding and/or scratching, tearing (particularly in cold weather) and more or less permanent wrinkles if flexed for too long. So my…

    Works EXCELLENT within its limits.

I tried one and liked it so much I bought my own. Within its limits, it's a great camera raincoat. section, you need to make sure the Velcro is NOT tight enough to allow the front of the lens to rotate off the cap without much resistance. The clear plastic on the back is flexible and not easy to see, especially when there are water drops on it. I just lift the back of the cap so I can look straight into the eyepiece. Wearing a peaked hat helps. - You MUST be careful when putting away your gear.

    Accidentally on camera and photo

I'm lucky. Since I received this product, I have had no chance of getting caught in wet weather while taking photos. So, to simulate wet conditions, I stuffed in a paper bag and tissue (rather than a guinea pig with my expensive camera) and tried it in different water levels. Result? 100% water repellent. Not a drop of water on a paper bag or napkin. Of course when it rains there are other factors such as wind conditions so your experience may vary. However, I will say that the type of closure…

    Excellent product

I live and photograph landscapes in Colorado and the Northern Rocky Mountains where the climate can be extreme: snow and cold and rain in summer. . . This camera cover is large enough to fully cover my D810 and my lens up to 70-200mm, as well as the main smaller diameter lenses I use like the 20mm and 85mm, although there is a lot of extra bulkiness when using shorter lenses . The front latches tighten around the lens hood to protect the lens mount and camera body while leaving room for…

A must when shooting in the rain

I photograph youth football. I'm there with the children in any weather, even when it rains. Although my camera and lens are weatherproof (Canon 80D with 70-200mm f/2.8), I don't want to risk it. My friend recommended the Altura raincoat to me and I bought it. I've seen photographers shoot with plastic trash bags wrapped/taped around their cameras and lenses. I've seen large, bulky, blanket-like contraptions covering their gear. I didn't want that. I needed something lightweight, easy to use…
