Review on Merrell Jungle Moc Toddler Gunsmoke Boys' Shoes and Outdoor Gear by Ian Bates

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Will not buy again

I had them for almost exactly 3 months when I looked at the heel and found that it was almost completely worn down to the outer layer of the shoe. I spoke to Merrell to find out how long the shoes were (I've worn them A LOT!) and was told to report them as defective, which I did. There was a bit of back and forth but they agreed to replace the shoes and will send me a replacement once I send them a photo proving I have made the shoes unwearable. This is difficult for me because the defect does not particularly affect the wear. This seems like a significant waste although I expected to have to send them back. I had a similar interaction with Keen shoes a few years ago (an issue that didn't really affect the shoes). When I asked them about it (provided at their store) they not only immediately recognized it as defective but also credited me for the full price of the shoes even though I had no receipt and I was very upfront that I bought them with one significant discount. When I asked if they wanted to return the shoes, they refused. Knowing the company I would guess it is because they really wanted the shoe to be used. I know Merrell's argument is that they don't want anyone to get hurt because of faulty shoes, but c'mon! They send me a new pair and if they wear out after 3 months I won't change them anymore.

Cons
