Review on AKG K701 Superb Stereo Headphone - Premium Reference Class (Level 1) by Amar Amar ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

For more than six months I have been the owner of the model. Chose for a long time. Compared with many competitors, including the so popular Sennheiser HD650, various AudioTechnica, and even the Denon AH-D7000. I listened to various Hi-End class amplifiers. The 701 came out victorious in almost every test, from classical music and jazz to rock and roll and dance music. Headphones are able to play everything that is included in the recording, taking into account what your Hi-Fi / Hi-End source and amplifier can squeeze out of the soundtrack. Yes, yes, headphones are very demanding on the path. The sound can be described as detailed, analytical, neutral, but at the same time musical. The stereo picture is incredible, the sound is very spacious, excellent and very accurate transmission of the entire frequency spectrum. Nothing is clamped, everything is in its place, you can isolate every sound. There is an opinion that 701 have weak bass. This is not true. When connected to a high-quality external amplifier and a good source, the headphones give out excellent, fast and accented bass. It is not as dense as, say, in the HD650/AH-D7000 models, however, competitors sound absolutely uninteresting in classical genres, jazz and rock and roll. Drive is only in dance music, however, often a fat bass does not allow other instruments to sound. Overall, excellent headphones, especially considering their low price. Equally well suited for analyzing the recording and identifying the slightest flaws in the work of the sound engineer, and for enjoying music. I strongly recommend to all fans of music and the world of high-quality audio.
