After buying and rejecting a cheap flimsy flash mount from Cowboy Studios that could drop my flash I did some more research and decided to spend more money on a Phottix . device and I couldn't be happier. From the moment I opened the box and caught a glimpse of this sturdy metal device, I knew I made the right decision. The lower section is securely attached to the lamp post and a removable adapter allows attachment to smaller diameter poles. The umbrella hole is wide enough to fit any light modifier I currently have and the clip keeps it from slipping or wiggling. The hot shoe is strong and attaches securely to the flash. The pan/tilt mechanism allows you to change the angle of the top. I wish the mechanism was in a different spot so you could rotate both the flash and umbrella independently, but that's easily overcome. There's even a hole for the included clamp, so you can hang some sort of cargo or bag to stow gear, or add more weight to stabilize the rack and reduce the chance of it tipping over. If you've spent a significant sum on your flash, flash trigger, light stand, umbrella or softbox, don't compromise on a cheap hot shoe mount. Get Fottix; It won't break your budget and will keep your gear safe.
