Description of DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Set - Alvaro Castagnet Watercolor Set - 10 Tubes, 5ml, 285610016

DANIEL SMITH, the Innovative Manufacturer of Beautiful Watercolors for Artists Worldwide is excited to offer the DANIEL SMITH Alvaro Castagnet’s Master Artist Set! This set has the 10 DANIEL SMITH Watercolors that world respected Alvaro Castagnet has chosen for his own palette. This set of ten, 5ml tubes includes: Hansa Yellow Deep, Mayan Orange, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna Light, Neutral Tint, Deep Scarlet, and Pyrrol Red. Hansa Yellow Deep: With a touch of orange, this is a pure chroma color with high-tinting, semi-transparent organic pigments. is considered the ‘perfect yellow’, a fact which offers more control when mixing. Mayan Orange: Hot and intense! Use it straight from the tube for a blazing red-orange. As you add water, the color remains strong and disperses very evenly. Ultramarine Blue: Intense, pure and subtly granulating, it stands proudly alone pure blue without shading to any other color. Cobalt Blue: Power with every drop. Cobalt Blue is a neutral, non-staining primary blue which subtly modifies most pigments. Considered a “mixing pigment”, its transparent nature can cast a giant reticulating shadow. Viridian: This transparent non-staining pigment is an excellent glazing pigment. It’s a cool blue-green useful in mixing without staining other pigment particles and for soft edges. Yellow Ochre: “Is a stunning gold hue, bright and clean yet true to its earthy nature. It’s non-staining, can be lifted easily to create highlights and has a predicable soft granulation in washes”. Burnt Sienna Light: “”DANIEL SMITH has created Burnt Sienna Light just for me. It is a beautiful, transparent hue. It is permanent, it has power and it breaks down Ultramarine Blue perfectly. Burnt Sienna Light is fabulous when you want to place cool colors on top. I use it when I am going into my darks where I drop it into Ultramarine Blue (included in the set) or Alizarin Crimson to create magnificent darks”” -Alvaro.

Cons

Nice though. Best in Paints

Some grainy colors don't mix easily with other colors for my painting style. There aren't enough neutral and cool primary colors in this set for travel. You need to add more colors from another set. Colors are very saturated but too bright for my use.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Clarity

Excellent colors on colors

Beautiful colors. My first watercolors by Daniel Smith and I were not disappointed. They were smooth, creamy, applied well to paper, melted easily in water, and worked easily with water and a brush to create beautiful blended effects; some had a nice fine grain. I will buy more from this brand!

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Thin

Excellent introductory set.

Fantastic deal on a wonderful product. I picked Daniel Smith because of the great reviews and Michael has some reserves for me to continue adding to my set. This color is excellent with a good range for those who would like to get acquainted with Daniel Smith colors. I bought an empty travel palette so I can leave the tubes at home. Yes, I would recommend this product.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Crumpled

Nice selection of the most beautiful watercolors

Love love love - I have added a few other colors and my collection of Daniel Smith colors continues to grow and I may be a beginner but when I paint 🎨 with Daniel Smith colors ( and this is a great choice for people like me who have a lot of base colors from other brands like Sennelier and M, Graham I can never praise Daniel Smith enough and this color choice is lovely 😊

Pros
  • Handy Ding

I love this color - colors

I love this color. I've been traveling recently and haven't been able to draw for 3 weeks. Just putting water on my palette is enough. What surprised me the most was that many of the colors were still wet. Bright colors stand out even after drying. Art class was surprised that the sunset I painted last week was watercolor and not acrylic. I recommend buying sheets that give you a drop of each color, this makes it easier to choose the colors that work best for your drawing style.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Factor Set

Art quality paint

Daniel Smith Excellent quality watercolors, paint for artists. If you want to try Daniel Smith watercolors, this is an inexpensive way to do it. You can always buy three primary colors and see how many colors you can get by mixing them. I think that's a good start. However, if you want a complete set, even the one the watercolor master uses, this is the way to go. Daniel Smith has other small 5ml kits. One of them is the Primatek line, a color made from real gems. There is also a 5ml set of…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions

  • Safety

I've tried several watercolors and this is the holy grail!

I'm not a professional, but I draw a little and did a lot of research. I started with Koi Pan watercolors, then tried tubes, then moved on to the Polish brand Renesans (yes, that's how it's spelled) and even tried M Graham, a quality honey-based brand. But Daniel Smith knocks them all out of the water. Koi was good for a student class, but frustrating to use. When I learned that using good quality paints and papers can be crucial in learning to paint, I started to innovate. I tried Renesans and
