Well the plastic is cheaper and the mattress is cut out of cardboard. The plastic broke very easily after about 2 hours of play. I would understand if it was just a few bucks (that's dollar shop quality) but I spent $18 and expected it to last at least a couple of weeks! You're better off going to Lowes or Home Depot and buying small pieces of wood and making your own.

This piece of furniture is very poorly made. We bought it for the dollhouse and I don't think you should expect much for $15. piece of cardboard. It didn't even last being unpacked from the box. Terrible quality and frankly embarrassing. I gave it away and felt awful when I saw how bad it was. Don't buy this. Pay another $10 and get something that will last more than a day or two.

I bought this style at the last minute for my granddaughter's Christmas present. This furniture is not intended to be manipulated or used, especially by children. It just comes with very plastic slits, and the "mattress" is actually a piece of a box that you rip out and fold to fit the bed frame. Put a barbie doll on top and you're done. I'm still trying to super glue her on so she can play with her. I wouldn't recommend spending money on this unless it's for a kid who really wants to use it.

I ordered this for my 3 year old granddaughter to set up her new dollhouse that her grandfather built for her for Christmas. When I received the bedroom furniture set a week before Christmas I cannot express how disappointed I was with the quality of this set. The whole set is made out of cheap plastic and the sliding groove of the bed frame assembly broke with very little effort to get it back in place. I thought it was very cute, I got it for my 2.5 year old granddaughter and assembled it before she came to visit. for a while I found her lying on the floor and a part was broken so that the bed was no longer holding together. I attached four zip ties to each corner of the bed to secure the sides in place and also used duct tape.
