I wasn't sure if the thermopile or the thermocouple was the problem. I replaced both. The natural gas fireplace works perfectly.

This was an exact replacement for my gas fireplace for a little less than my fireplace manufacturer. Worked great to solve an issue I was having when the pilot light and/or flame went out randomly. It was a bit difficult to get the old one, but that was because the chimney design didn't have enough room for big hands. Once you have the old one, installing it is very easy. If your Napoleon fireplace accidentally goes out with either the pilot light or the flame during use, I would recommend this
