I bought this for my nephew and he was first disappointed because it does not come with a manual or instructions with the exception of (download manual online). Once he did that, he enjoyed it throroughly and even had some friends buy one so they can all play together. The main key is to have a decent phone or table to use when playing with this. My 9 year old loved this for about 2 weeks and maybe he'll pick it up again later after he gets tired of his other Christmas gifts but it was a pretty good 2 weeks. He spent enough time "programming" the sphero that I think it was probably money well spent.

I got this to play with the cats. Seemed like a good idea at the time. However, it kept losing it's bluetooth connection. The only way to get it connected again was to plug it in to charge. It would work for a few minutes and lose connection again. Perhaps mine is defective, but who knows.

I use this to help burn off my cats' excess energy, and it works super well for that. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't deal well with carpet, but I can get it unstuck with a little effort.My advice when using it is to orient it to the house, not necessarily to yourself. That way, for example, pressing up will always send it towards the east wall of my house.I could wish there were some more grippy covers available, but I have a 3D printer so I'll make something.

Both kids my 5yo & 11yo have really enjoyed it. It's really a fun item and learning to code with the coding blocks makes it easily understandable.great item if you want to get your kids interested in simple coding & robotics

.my only complaint would be battery life. Maybe ours is a freak, but it dies awfully quickly on each charge. maybe 10-15 minutes or so. Who knows, maybe that is a Blessing. Good luck!

Gave this to my 13 yo for Christmas. He was excited about it for about a day and has barely touched it since. His younger siblings find it much more interesting but they aren’t sure how to make it do much. It does exactly what it says it does though and it seems quite sturdy.

Sphero is a name in its own space and time and that’s where you’ll be. I missed the different apps that Sphero originally had that made it as good as it was. Most of their functionality lives on in Sphero play, but the games like Chromo are lost forever.

Purchased this little guy for my 9 year old daughters birthday. She loves it. It was fast and easy to set up & controls great. The app was available on ios & works just fine. There's multiple ways to control, and all have been simple to use. If there's any issue we just simply recalibrate it and it's good to go.

My cat doesn't like toys that are stationary because it bores him. This is perfect for him because we can make it more challenging for him. He played with this immediately and still plays with it even without anyone controlling it. We're planning to program the ball to move at a pattern so that we can leave it running while we're working.

For the price you should get more than one case. It only comes with one and is barely more durable than a table tennis ball. Battery life can be a bit better, too, although it does charge quickly. The app is a little wonky, I get this is technically a STEM item but would be nice to have at least a basic remote.
