Review on πŸ–₯️ ASUS Designo MX27AQ 2560X1440 Frameless Monitor: Sleek & Stunning Display by Larry Linde

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent for the price

Was looking for an external MacBook Pro monitor to use as my "TV" (since I don't "seriously" watch - maybe movies every few weeks or so). I have a 27 inch WQHD model. Works great as a display for a MacBook. The picture is very sharp and clear and works immediately without having to make any adjustments to the laptop or the display. I've connected it via both HDMI and Display Port on Thunderbolt, and there doesn't seem to be any difference in functionality between the two. From a distraction perspective, there are a few very small cases where very small text looks a little blurry. But that's not important enough, and I think for any display like this size (and price) it's as good as a TV gets. I hooked up a Roku Premier via HDMI and it looks great, it worked straight away with a MacBook without tweaking or tweaking Roku supports 4k - don't know if this is required for WQHD resolution or not, it still works , and the picture fills the screen and looks great when streaming HD movies, the sound is surprisingly decent so far l closet. Again, I'm not a "serious" enthusiast when it comes to sound. I think it's ok for movies. As for the music, even my non-penetrating ear notes that the sound isn't very good. Also, there doesn't seem to be a remote for volume control, so it doesn't work for watching movies - I'll have to get some sort of external speaker with a remote for volume control. I'm impressed with the build quality and the physical beauty of the device itself. It doesn't look or feel like a cheap office device. This might be a minor consideration, but it's actually a much nicer "plus" than I thought. Conclusion: For the price you can not do better in my opinion. I did a little research on this monitor and initially didn't want to spend more than a few hundred dollars. But then I realized that for around $400 you can get a device that is way better than what the $100-$200 price range offers. And in the $400 range, this is the best option.
