Review on ASUS VE228H 1920X1080 Back Lit Monitor 21.5", 60Hz, Wide Screen, by Tyler Shanks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great budget monitor for 5 years no problems

I have had this monitor for over 5 years. I bought this in college when I got bored of the 1280x800 display on my laptop. Let me tell you, if you're studying computer science, even a monitor will help you more. It has stood the test of time and has not diminished in quality. It is now replaced as the primary monitor with a 1440p 144Hz monitor. So let's get to the rating. The display is decent. It has a warm display. Warm enough to make some blues look a bit purple. However, this can be remedied by changing the settings of your ICC profile or the ad itself. It also has impressive angles for a small and cheap TFT monitor. Response time is ok, good for gaming. At $150 it was a good deal but now it's down to $110 and it's a pretty good deal. Some Cons: The downside that I noticed is that it can't be rotated to portrait mode. It's good for coding, so it can't do that. I've already mentioned that the color isn't very accurate, but it's good enough, especially at this price point. One-watt speakers aren't that good; I would recommend decent satellite or bookshelf speakers if you don't have one. But who buys a computer monitor for audio? It's also quite small at 21.5 inches. I would recommend a larger 23" or 24" model, but that's no problem either. Overall, that's four stars for me. I haven't looked at other monitors so keep an eye out for these and maybe aim for decent and large IPS panels, but you won't get excited about this monitor.

Pros
  • ‎1920x1080
Cons
  • Motion Blur: If the resolution is set too low, the display may appear blurry or pixelated.
