Review on LG 34WL85C-B Ultrawide Curved Monitor with 🌊 3440X1440P Resolution, Adjustable Tilt and Height, HD IPS Screen by Jalyn Petrzelka

When I bought the 34WL85C-B there were very few if not no reviews online (no Revain, no Reddit etc) as it is a new model. That's why I decided to post a review here. This is a newer model which I believe is the successor to the 34UC88. It is very similar to the 34UC88 with some minor changes. First, I think the curvature changes from 1900mm to 1800mm, which means more curvature, although I highly doubt it's noticeable, and 1800mm is very standard too. They're both 8-bit + FRC, but the 34WL85C now supports HDR10. However, "HDR10 support" is just a picture mode you can use in lieu of actual HDR support, in my opinion (although I don't recommend it). I say that because it still peaks at 300 nits, which is by no means a true HDR display that typically needs around 1000 nits of peak brightness (like the new iPhone 11 Pro's screen). Other than that I don't think there are any other changes, the stand might look different but I'm not 100% sure and don't think it matters much. I chose the 34WL85C over the 34UC88 because 1) it's a newer model and I always like to buy the latest model when it comes to electronic products; 2) I heard that the 34UC88 has a serious problem with image storage and I hope LG will solve this problem in their new model; 3) The price difference isn't huge, at the time of my purchase the 34UC88 was around 489 at Revain where it was 569. Now that I've been using the 34WL85C with my 2014 15-inch MacBook Pro for about a week. I only used it for work in my office so I left the game rating blank. I have to say that I absolutely love it. The display is very sharp and works perfectly with my Macbook. LG's split screen controls are smooth and can be a huge plus when you just need basic software that automatically splits your screen into 2, 3 or 4 parts without wasting time on third-party software. Overall, I would recommend the LG 34WL85C-B to anyone looking for an ultra-wide monitor for office use.
