Review on 🩹 Improved RATS GEN 2 Tourniquet System: Rapid Application & Life-Saving - Hemorrhage Kit for Emergency, First Aid, and Survival by Dan Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I buy compression straps

*I'll copy and paste the two tourniquets together here, note which one I'm talking about*Searching for cheaper alternatives to CAT and SOF-T, found several. In Revain, I liked RATS and SWAT-T the most. They work differently than traditional winches, but are very simple and very fast. As with anything, it takes practice and getting used to. I have not used either in a real world scenario but have practiced all upper and lower extremities on several adults of all sizes and my 5 and 8 year olds and checked for pulselessness in most cases by palpation and SpO2 with waveform. No failures with any wiring harness. SWAT-T I would NOT recommend for UPPER LIMB SELF HELP, it is doable with practice but slow and not one I want to stake my life on due to the difficulties involved. This is my only negative conclusion. Self-help of the lower extremity or the help of a partner, no problem at all. On the other hand, it is an easy to use, very fast and very effective tourniquet. RATS also takes some getting used to for upper limb self-imposition, but with practice it's not bad. The most important thing is not to allow any slack and to keep the groups as close together as possible. All in all I think I'll stick with these. Most of the staff (ambulance and paramedics) were also impressed with them and after a demonstration found them easy to use.
