Description of 3M 05860 Guide Coat Cartridge

Dry guide coat reveals surface imperfections such as pinholes and scratches. Dry consistency requires no masking and requires no drying time. Product may be used in both wet or dry sanding. Contains no intentionally added solvents. Powder is ideal to highlight body lines.

Excellent material! good for paint and primer

I used this to get near perfect straightness on a badly damaged door. I can't find a good substitute for one. It was damaged two years ago. Uses stud welding, slide hammer, welding and bondo with this material. Now it looks perfect.

Pros
  • Dry guide coat shows surface imperfections like pinholes and scratches
Cons
  • Good mostly, but...

Revainrating 5 out of 5

it was stupid. It lasts forever much longer than the same thing.

Why didn't I try this sooner? I probably sold it because of the price. Instead, I kept buying an aerosol can. In retrospect it was stupid. It lasts much longer than a spray for the same money. That's a great thing. I will never go back to the lead coating.

Pros
  • Product can be used both wet and dry
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Get it right at Paint & Paint Supplies

When you want the best finish consistency and perfect blending, you need to use your hand to feel and your eyes to light with an angle see to edit controls. Senior management helps you find those lows and highs. Yes you can use a lightly sprayed can of black primer to get a guide coat but in my opinion it is much easier to use, goes further and maintains the expected 3M quality.

Pros
  • No intentionally added solvents
Cons
  • Hard to tell
