I use my Diamond Painting Light Mat and to be honest I don't know how I ever went without it! The pad itself is very thin so no matter what you do it will never slip off. It comes with a clip to keep it from slipping off the surface when you want to use it at an angle. To give you an idea, I took a watercolor drawing on 140lb watercolor paper and placed it on a light board.
