Surprisingly good

There are so many negative reviews about HD antennas and price doesn't seem to matter so I bought the cheapest antenna which has some REALLY positive reviews. For the last 2 years I've only had Prime and Netflix. All I was hoping for was local network partners, FOX, NBC, CBS and ABC. The antenna was much smaller than I expected and not the same as the photo. The one I received was clear and brown, not black, but it matched my brick better. I'm 35 to 40 miles from the main train station towers. I pocketed it, taped it to the window, scanned it and got nothing. I turned on the amp did a scan and to my surprise I had over 40 channels. I was hoping to install it behind the TV but couldn't find anything. I tried several spots and found the best spot where the wire wouldn't get in the way was high up on the chimney. It doesn't stick to the brick, so I stuck the nail into the mortar, glued a piece of styrofoam to the nail so the antenna wouldn't touch the brick, peeled off the tape covering the glue, and glued the antenna to the styrofoam. I'm not thrilled that the wires are showing, but I think if I paint the wire to match the brick and run it in a corner it won't be too noticeable. PS I have a Vizio Smart TV and they do NOT have a built in blinker to connect the antenna. You need to buy a converter box ($30) like the one on my Blu-ray Disc player in the picture.
