Would buy again! - Education and training

Really great stone collection! A few examples of each, some large, some small. The book is small but informative! Highly recommend for any kids interested in rock collecting!

Has very few fossils

I bought a 200 stone and fossil set from National Geographic because the fossil set I bought from another seller was no longer available. It contained very few fossils. My kids were very disappointed.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Useless features

Fun for science minded kids!

My 7 year old loves this set! He really enjoyed playing with it. We gave him a kitchen scale so he could weigh each stone. He played a lot with this set! Large selection of different rocks, fossils.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Can't remember

Great for the curious

My 5 year old got over 30 Christmas gifts (slime, electronic pets, crafts, etc.) and that was it. She usually finishes the presents within an hour and looks back at her iPad while watching ridiculous boy Ryan check the toys. It's been over a week and she's still sorting through her "super rare" fossils and rocks. We are very happy with the selection that came in the 200 pack.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

upset. Nothing like the promotional photo

I bought this set with confidence for my boys to open. I think NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC will be awesome and worth the price. Well I was very wrong. many of the details seen in the promotional photo are missing. What we received was mostly broken or dissolved by the wet sand that was in the box. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Ok overall but...

Geiger counter showed radioactivity!

When we received our kit we tested it for radiation with our geiger counter. The tooth of a prehistoric shark showed high levels of radioactivity. I researched online and found this to be common with prehistoric shark teeth. I felt uncomfortable when my child played with it. I tried calling and alerting the company but didn't get very far. I will try again and update.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great gift good choice

My kid loves it! We got him for his 4th birthday so he's definitely under the recommended age but we're just taking care of him. He enjoys exploring all the different rocks and fossils. We haven't opened the geodes yet. I just wish there was something in there to hold all the rocks except the plastic bags. The bag is not big enough for all the stones. Maybe we'll buy him something like a fishing box so he can sort through it.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Smaller rocks and minerals, some really good ones.

My children are 11 and 12 years old, a boy and a girl, a complete set. They love polished stones and crystals and anything that looks like treasure. Many of the movies and shows you see have characters searching for gems, crystals and gold, which are very similar to the rocks and minerals in this set. The first impression was a bit dirty. Sand was seeping out of the box everywhere. I don't think there's much of a way around it, but it wasn't a clean or neat experience. It wasn't a big deal, but
