This is a beautiful and economical replacement for a mirror. It looks identical to the previous aftermarket mirror I bought, but with a few upgrades: there's a plastic bushing in the ball joint to make the movement smoother; the mounting knob/bracket/base is metal, not plastic. The included metal base is better because the plastic base was kinked/deformed when tightening the mounting screw and the mirror kept falling off. However, it's hard to believe that this is an exact replacement for some of the original factory mirrors, as some reviews say. explained. While not bad, the quality is still far from the original - at least on all the cars I've had. SLR optics aren't that "clean" (for lack of a better term). I notice some spooky reflections, probably from less than perfect anti-reflective glass. In addition, the materials used - especially the day/night shifter, which feels a bit wobbly - don't quite match the quality of the original products. But for the price, this mirror works perfectly. If you are no longer using your current mirror base/knob and need to attach the included base, you can purchase rearview mirror adhesive from any auto parts store. Silicone works too.
