Kaz What have you done?

Kaz ruined the Honeywell name. The original replacement filter for the 52500 Honeywell has been discontinued. The Honeywell brand replacement is a special set of these fine filters in combination with a dense foam rubber gasket. This filter, combined with the possible use of a foam pad (included), is suitable for several brands of Kaz. This was an apparent attempt to reduce the very large inventory of filters needed, but also makes multiple makes/models far less effective than using the original filters. I tested my Honeywell 52500 with the original filter using a laser particle counter. The efficiency of the system exceeded 80% (reduction of particles from the ambient air by 80% in the first pass). After replacing the standard (one-piece) filter with these filters and the included foam, my HEPA filter initially ran at 78% efficiency, but dropped to less than 50% as the filters were used for several months. This means that new replacement filters seem to work fine, but when those replacement filters are used and the filter media starts to clog, more than half of the air will pass through the HEPA filter unfiltered. Recommendation: Find an aftermarket one-piece filter here on Revain. This is a suitable replacement for the original and avoid these Kaz filters as they are a waste of money and do not perform like the original filters.
