Review on FastRack 5 Gallon Glass Carboy: Efficient Solution for Easy Brewing and Fermentation by Kelly Mitchell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great combination of practicality and aesthetics

Now I have two of these. The product is fantastic. In my quest to reduce my exposure to plastic and improve my health, I started buying water from my local water treatment store. I have a shard of ceramic water cooler and I put one on top of it. Works great. Looks great. Very nice to use. Made in Italy according to packaging. To close it properly, I bought plastic "milk jug" style lids from my water store, which fit 5 gallon plastic jugs, but work fine for that too. Not entirely plastic-free, but damn close. The company packs the product well. Lots of bubble wrap and a double layer of cardboard. I suspect that sometimes they break in transit, but I'm sure the seller will deal with this situation. I have a 2 x 2 and plan to buy another one soon. When filled with water, they are definitely heavier than their plastic counterparts. But when you do the math, it only adds about ten pounds. Five gallons of water weigh about 45 pounds. The pitcher weighs 11 pounds. And considering they're only $10 or $15 more than a plastic jug at the time of writing this, I think that's a fantastic price. It's totally worth it.
