These socks are 98% waterproof. They don't keep my feet completely dry when I'm standing in the water, but they're good enough to keep my feet mostly dry from the occasional splash or quick dip. In comparison, I wore Goretex-lined socks, which were almost as waterproof as plastic bags. However, unlike plastic bags, these socks are breathable. They wick moisture away from my feet. Wearing them for 10 hours in the Alaskan rain allows me to remove socks that feel damp, but my feet feel relatively dry. stretch a little to fit. I probably put holes in the waterproof membrane. But they are still worth the purchase price.
