This gate is fine and works well as long as you don't need to widen it all the way. If you do, they are not as durable. For one of my doors (which had a jamb) the gate fits exactly as it should. But to get into my back room, which doesn't have a door or passageway, I had to add an extension, and then it was too wide to fit the opening. As I bought two of these gates and didn't use the extension from the other gate I added it on the other side and now it fits but it's not as strong as I would like. Look at the picture I posted. Look for the silver staff that the arrow is pointing to. The further it is open, the less durable the gate is. Ideally, you don't want to see more than an inch. The bars themselves are only about 3 inches long. So if an inch is open, it's only 2 inches of the rod that's inside the gate to hold it.
