This is how they look really nice, smooth and clean. They fold, they kind of lock, but it's hard to do. You have to plug them into each other at an angle and snap them together somehow. They stay that way for the most part if you don't move them often, and they'll fall apart again. However. The bottom tray holds a full stack of printer paper, so that's good.
