I wasn't sure if my older cats would use this, I was hoping it wouldn't be a waste of money. Both of my 14 year old cats are very picky - if there is litter in their litter box they will either not use it or worse, defecate outside the crate. But they're not exactly open to new ideas at the moment. I introduced my cats to the self-cleaning litter box and from what I see there I know she uses it! So far no problems with the mechanics; I still try to clean the bin every day and make sure there aren't lumps stuck to the grate, but it's so good the other emergency boxes I have around haven't been used since I got this one. I didn't notice any odors or excessive spilling of trash (more than usual). But it is impossible to completely contain the garbage, when combing it flies out. As they exit, it expands, although there is a ramp for garbage collection. It's just the presence of cats (especially those jumping on the sides and avoiding the ramp). The filler does NOT fly due to anything related to the real box. I should also mention that I chose this box because I knew I had to keep using their regular filler, they are a long way from switching fillers. . And regular clumping litter works great, no special purchase required. However, I brought small garbage bags for the container because they are expensive and throwing them away every night costs a fortune. So I just put the bag on top of the receiver and take it out every night. Then I can use the same capacity for a long time.
