Buy this for product photography and it ALMOST does the job. The items I have photographed sometimes contrast beautifully with this finish. The description as a "matte" surface is not entirely accurate. It's a good thing it's not shiny, but it's not completely matte either. It's certainly not anti-glare, meaning the pebble finish will reflect quite a bit of light depending on how you use it and where your lights are placed. When you expect your items to stand out against a black background. think again I usually want an invisible backdrop, so hang it on a backdrop stand and let it curve on the tabletop. It reflects a lot of unwanted light - unlike the black paper or velvet I usually use. My experience with plastic backs has been much better in the past, even with gradient backs. I've never had such reflections. Another issue is that the plastic itself is quite soft and scratches very easily, meaning additional machining operations are required to remove them. I'm pretty sure I won't be buying this material again, at least not in black. White is appropriate as you would expect it to reflect everything. Not "matte" black. The attached photos show the reflective tape which I don't want to see on the black version and the nice shot you get on the white version.
