Solid wood, quite clear sound and looks very nice in the room. Nothing about this device feels or looks cheap; even a solid wood mount. The battery works as advertised, although I keep mine plugged in as the cord was easy to hide. The audio is a little more distorted than I'd like, at a volume that allows you to hear music through, say, the bonnet. I've paired it with an Echo dot in our kitchen and while we love it and love the looks, the speaker falls off a bit. It's not awkward, it's a little less than I expected for the price (and the playing is mostly classical and jazzy, not something room-shattering). In general I am satisfied with the purchase. At low volume it fills the background of the room very nicely.
