Maybe I'm just blinded by the compactness of this DVR and the overall recording quality - this is my first DVR and it's me fascinated by how something so small can work so well. I can press record, put this little man in my jean pocket and walk around and take in everything that's being said around me, within about 15 feet. (If my jeans are loose, I get a little rustling sound as the jeans rub against the unit. But it doesn't bother me much.) I mainly use this dash cam when I'm taking a lot of photos. Write down what each photo is about so I don't have to rack my brains to remember when I later download the photos to my computer. It's easier than taking notes, especially when I'm in the car. My only complaint here is that S sounds tend to sound harsh, even on the best recording quality. I want this DVR to be configured so that my computer can natively see it as my USB stick. Since this doesn't work, you need to download software that always runs in the background to detect the DVR and transfer files. My main complaint about this is that I already have five or six things always running in the background waiting for the rare occasion when I need them, and I don't like adding programs to that list that just use up memory. However, the software is quite easy to use. It plays recordings efficiently, but you can use any .wav player if you like. The software not only logs the date and time the file was transferred, it also logs the date and time the file was recorded, which I find very useful. However, the recording date and time can only be accessed via the supplied software; When you view files through your operating system, they are only tagged with the date and time they were transferred.
