You can easily cut it with scissors or rotary knife. The guidelines on the back are helpful. I reinstalled some parts a few times to even them out but they never ripped and were still sticky! enough to spread it on the surface and then use a plastic squeegee or ruler to keep it smooth. A few spots that are crumpled are not very noticeable; it just looks like a little texture. I covered the kitchen bar, the tops of some furniture (bedside, dresser and tray tables) and the front door (don't know how it will hold up but we'll see).
