I really like this scanner. I'm working to downsize my cluttered file drawers by throwing out what I don't need and scanning what I want to keep. Some of the preservers were newspaper clippings and other large items that my other scanner could not pick up except scan them piece by piece. This is how my search for a large format scanner began. Is this the best large format scanner on the market? It depends on your criteria and how much you are willing to spend. That's why he's the best for me. 1) When you compare the prices of large format scanners, this is an incredible deal. If you're trying to scan artwork, this may not be what you need. For my purposes, having crisp, high-resolution copies of precious but mundane objects was a striking bargain. 2) It has a great user interface and is quite intuitive and easy to use. It took me some time (maybe 20-30 minutes) to understand exactly how everything works, which I don't find bad at all. It also has great instructions. 3) It offers a lot of fine-tuning, with options for color/BW, resolution level/dpi, JPG/PDF, etc. 4) I couldn't get it to work at first and wanted to return it. I called tech support and got one person. No person following a recorded menu. The call was answered by a real person. The friendly and knowledgeable tech support rep who answered the call walked me through troubleshooting and I discovered a huge, annoying rookie mistake. I did not fully connect the USB cable. The tour guide was totally accommodating. 5) Most importantly, this scanner produces clear, high-quality scans. Hooray! Mission accomplished.
