OVERVIEW I currently work mostly outdoors and go into the studio during the rainy season to expand my client base. As I still intend to work a lot on the road, I want all of my gear to work just as well in the studio as it did when disassembled and assembled on site. This softbox is my first purchase of a diffuser for a hybrid approach in the studio and on location. SETUP Straight out of the box it was easy to set up, I've watched a few YouTube videos of a few other softboxes and definitely wouldn't want to own one. for outdoor shots. I took it out of the box and set it up on a C tripod with a studio flash in less than 20 minutes. Most of the time was spent unpacking and hooking up the inner and outer diffusion plates. I suspect it will take less than 5 minutes for future installations as the inner and outer panels can remain connected. I can just grab what I need and leave instead of destroying gear first. Also, I don't think I'm leaving this softbox because it seems like the ribs might come off if it's always on top. Smash the softbox and stuff it in the case for another minute QUALITY - Softbox - This softbox looks like some serious quality so far, the ribs are high quality, the Bowens locking bracket is solid metal, and speaking of the bracket , the pivot screw is on the outside , unlike some that require you to have the screw loosened by disassembling the diffusion plates. - The tote bag is one of my favorite problems - sellers who invest a lot of time and attention in the product but think about the bag as an afterthought; especially when it comes to attachments. nicefoto not; the carry case doesn't require the softbox to be perfectly disassembled to the smallest possible shape, and the zippers, while mediocre, can last a while; still not top quality but with care they can hold together. - Bowens attachment - this is very important to keep the softbox from falling on the customer's head and so far it seems to be of the highest quality; solid metal and rotates easily when the screw is loosened. Material - The material is quite durable including diffusion plates and mesh. CONCLUSION Overall this is a great softbox for the price, I just wish Nicefoto made other types of modifiers like stripe boxes, umbrellas, makeup bags etc. When I find a supplier that I like, I try to stick with them for all of my gear in that category. Searching for Revain turned up nothing but parabolic softboxes so I'll have to look elsewhere to find other modifiers. I'll update this review with pictures once I've used this softbox in the studio, but I'm sure everyone has seen plenty of portraits shot with large softboxes, and I'm sure they will likely look the same any other soft box; which is not bad.
