Our dachshund mix has a long belly fur that gets almost wet every time she walks in the rain (or even on wet grass in the morning). We did a little research and this was one of the few raincoats we could find that a) offered floor protection and b) didn't look cheap. Dogs come in all shapes and sizes, so it's nice that they have a size chart based on measurements (rather than weight). The Dachshund's shape rarely agrees with weight-based measurements, and all too often we ended up with something that didn't fit around her barrel-shaped chest, even though she was within the recommended weight range. She weighs around 20 pounds and we chose a medium size due to her measurements. Unfortunately, he is a bit longer on the front legs and a bit short on the back. But it's not that bad and I can't fault the seller for not making over 20 different sizes for each breed of dog. We have to roll up the front sleeves to keep her front legs from slipping out while walking, but other than that it fits really really well. The hood doesn't suit her at all and goes over her eyes. I was going to say that this is just a decorative feature, but some people claim it works for them. Can only depend on the shape/size of the dog. We bought it over a year ago and it's still working. It's not much use (only when it rains, of course, and even then we sometimes don't bother putting it on), but so far we've had no problems with it. Material, seams and zipper are in good condition. Of course she will still be a little wet after a walk in the rain but her chest/belly will be mostly dry which is what we were hoping for. Oh, not to mention that. it smells pretty lovely.
