Ideal for front/back of mini photo albums. As a terrible description I can say that it is "very thick" (I didn't measure but I would say it's suitable for use as a hardcover book cover). It doesn't work with a regular hole punch though - this nifty little hole punch that promises to punch 10 sheets of paper won't work with this one. You need a hole punch that can be adjusted or that can punch through drywall or something similar. I've had mixed success with some of the larger decorative punches (the 2-inch triangular punch works with some serious muscle, for example). It cuts well on my Carl rotary cutter with a few strokes.
