My dad tends to overcook steaks so they are well done when he uses the grill pit or grill so I bought this for him mainly for my own pleasure since I can only eat half done. The response time is very fast and seems accurate, when I check the same meat with the various thermometers we have they all come back to about the same temperature but you should always calibrate your thermometers regularly to get the correct readings receive.
